This forum has been a very informative, thank you in advance for all the help.
Sorry if this line has been covered before.
I have a hp pavilian a530n, XP home Edition,
no installation cd, but I have burned a recovery dvd from this computer.
I have the product key on the box

The problem is hard drive is bad (maxor 6y200 po IDE)
disk doctor showed two warnings HDD535-s2, HDD535-4
I am running but with limited functions after running the recover disk several times. The computer is not very stable.
I have backed up data USB 4gb drive(not sure how to backup drivers)?

I have bought replacement Western Digital IDE 160

Will the recovery disk install xp os on the new hard drive, with original drivers?
Is that part of its function.

Or will I need install disk, which I can borrow from a friend.

The disk you have should be fine. what you may need to do after the install is just go to HP's site and get the drivers from there.

possibly. Depends on the program that made the restore, and the options you chose.

I would just download the ethernet drivers first. Keep those on your external. Just in case.
