Default Inspiron 6400, FINAL!

Ok, Im just finalising the parts on my 6400..and need a little advice..

The standard processor, is the:
Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2050 (1.60 GHz, 2 MB L2 cache, 533 MHz FSB)

For £70, I can get this:
Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2300E (1.66 GHz, 2 MB L2 cache, 667 MHz FSB) [add £70.50 or £2/month1]

And for £170, I can get this:
Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2400 (1.83 GHz, 2 MB L2 cache, 667 MHz FSB) [add £117.50 or £3/month1]

Would the standard processor do me enough justice? I want speed, and I want to be able to play medium modern games..do you think this would be ok, orr should I spend the £70 and get the higher FSB, and the 60Mhz increase?

Id spend the extra 170..

In a laptop you dont have upgradability, and because you want to play games decently on it, you will need it future proof.

Which is more bang for your buck... 70 for 60mhz increase or 170 for 230mhz increase.

so 60 + 60 + 60 + 60 = 240mhz and E280 increase

but just a mere E170 increase gives you 230mhz power increase

so your looking at a 280 - 170 = E110 difference for 10mhz

Only if you give it that kind of persective...

Essentially the 230mhz increase is more bang for your buck. If you dont do that, dont increase it at all.

It would be better to get the 170, but if you really want performance, the 170 and if you want cash, the 70.

Arrizx is right.

Yep, but I would at least get that 667 FSB.

I dont think the FSB is worth E70..

Well at least not that much E, im not sure how much that translates into $$$ wise.

But I still stick to my bang for the buck thought

You might want to watch out about the T2300E. There are two variants of the the T2300. The normal T2300 is the standard processor, but the T2300E lacks Intel's Virtualization Technology. Performance shouldn't be too big of a difference, but Dell got sued by some guys in China over that (Dell didn't really label it).

Then ,the 2300E is ruled out. You would always want the good stuff and no lacking. E should stand for Embedded.
