Hello all,

First off, I'm new to the forum world. I didn't thoroughly scan this site for any threads concerning my hardware issue and I'm coming up empty handed on Google even with quotations.

I built a server of my own creation and there are about 4 SATA HDDs (so far) in the machine and I want know how frequently they are being accessed.

1) How could one individually connect LEDs to individual hard drives in a system like in the old days of SCSI drives?

2) Is it practical?

Some drives have an led output. Get the brand name and model number and visit thier website. Just pull up the data sheet for the drive. Look in the jumper pin section of the data sheet.
As for practical, not really. There's software out there that can track how often a drive gets hit and what it went after. Server management software. Google for it.
