im in big trouble

It is compatible with the socket LGA775, so I do not see a problem.

What CPU is it?

Looks right to me. It's compatible with LGA 775 Dual Core, Socket LGA 775 CPUs.

What do you mean by it's too small?

intel pentium d processor 820 dual core, theres originally a heatsink alone on the cpu so i bought that fan/heatsink when i took of the heatsink and compared it the fan/heatsink its smaller i dont know why.

Well, what do you mean? Have you actually tried putting it onto the mobo?

It will work, in one of the reviews the reviewer said they have it on a Q6600 which is a socket 775 processor, and all 775 slots are the same size.

Is this a Gateway PC, or custom? Because those mounting holes definatley aren't standard for socket 775. A lot of times pre-built machines will have proprietary parts...
