Default Ideas to do with Dell Vostro 200 Slim PC

I was offered a free Dell Vostro 200 Slim PC and when looking at it I saw it had an Intel Core 2 Duo chip which is not the newest, cutting edge, but it is definitely still a great chip, definitely better than the Pentium 4 computer that was also being given away

Anyway, I was just wondering, what are some neat things to do with this PC?

Also, I do have a dedicated graphics card that is sitting in my office that I may upgrade the integrated card that is built in.

Thanks a lot!

Maybe a media centre of some sort? Stick a Blu-Ray drive in it and you're sorted!

I think that it should be okay running Blu-Rays anyway, hopefully someone else can confirm that!

Doesn't sound to me like you need another computer. Will it not just take up space?

Joe's idea is a good one though.
It will be able to run blueray if it has HDMI 1.4 support, display port or dual link DVI. He also need a supporting cable and the BlueRay drive itself.

Yeah I agree with Joe a media server sounds like a good idea. I also have to agree the Core 2 Duo's are still a great CPU considering their age. I found this on the Dell website Dell Vostro 200 Slim Tower | Dell

Optional low profile graphics cards with up to 256MB local on-board memory

Put a media server on it such as Plex and stream from it.
Put some shares on it and use it as a file server/backup destination
Or put a second drive in it and create a RAID 1 with free nas, and then put shares on it. Install ubuntu and run an apache webserver.
If you're not a linux guy just use XAMMP and then run a webserver.
Setup a torrenting box (utorrent, deluge both have webserver capabilities)
Add a NIC and install PFSense to turn it into a router

Or, better than any of that, plug an access point into it and do this.

You do know you will probably need a low profile video card like so with a short bar:
Amazon.com: Asus ATI Radeon HD6450 Silence 1 GB DDR3 VGA/DVI/HDMI Low Profile PCI-Express Video Card - EAH6450 SILENT/DI/1GD3(LP): Electronics
And that Dell Vostro slimline is not a great unit, Iv'e seen better by the curb side!
