Default Ideas

Hey I just got a new computer but now I have an (really really old computer) it's a 2001 white dell with a penium 3 processor 256mb ram with double disk drives a ten gig hard drive and a floppy drive. obviously im not working on it for the power but I want to use it as an experimenting computer and need ideas to try.

Try a couple of flavors of Linux, do a home server, like Joga mentioned, try setting it up as a file server.

I like the file server idea, but I would go a step further and set up an FTP server as well. That way you could experiment with port forwarding on your router, among other things.

perhaps an HTPC, use it as a DVR and such. You'll need a video capture card and a bigger hard drive though. It depends really.

If not, then server.
