Default IDE to SATA Converter

I purchased a new computer but noticed it didn't have enough IDE ports.
I'm looking at this.
Will that convert the IDE connections to SATA without slowing anything down?

I'm not sure but it will probably slow it down a little but not very much

Yeah that thing goes on an ide slot and gives a sata slot from the IDE
If you want more ide ports get this http://cgi.ebay.com/Ultra-ATA-133-PC...QQcmdZViewItem
if you want more sata ports get this http://cgi.ebay.com/3-SATA-SERIAL-AT...QQcmdZViewItem
The first one has 2ide ports suitable for 4ide drives
the second one has 3sata and one ide port suitable for 3sata drives and two ide drives

I use a ATA133 pci card in my P4 rig to give me extra drives. Other than loading the drivers it's a no brainer. XP will pick up on it but loads generic drivers. Use the one that comes with it.

Those converters have a reputation of being TERRIBLY slow compared to a standard IDE or SATA connection

Yep, something like that is all you need for a residential application.
