i tried a system restore, with no luck.
i honestly don't know why it has changed.
probably put something into c that has caused it.
could you give me more details on what to look for in the c drive root. i am not sure where to look. i have had a look and can't seem to see a autorun.

I found this on PC Magazine's website. Try some of their suggestions for changing the hard drive icon.

i know this sounds stupid, but how do i go about looking through the root of my c drive.

Go to Explorer and click on C:
