The i7 platform is going to cost a lot more, but Q9550 is going to be nipping at it's heels in gaming, <- notice the italic. The i7 will be a lot faster in other multi threaded apps but not a lot in gaming.
You might want to check out the new Phenom II 940 as well.

The i7 isn't much better than a C2Q at games...yet. The architecture was designed to be an improvement in multi-threaded apps. Your best bet is to go with the comment above and get a PII. They will get the most clock out of any quad-core processor.

Well the I7 is an awesome proc, the Q9550 is good to, i would probably go with the I7 though the Q9550 has 12mb cache and the I7 920 has 8mb
|

If you're in the US, get the 920 from micro center. They have it for only $220.
