hi guys, well first i have a hp pavillion 733n pc. i had the case swapped out because my old power supply quit on me and the new 350w one needed a new case to fit. it has 4 external bays and disk drive and what looks like room for 5 hard drives.

now ive been reading around on this site for a while and learned that i needed sisoftware to find out my mobo specs to see what can fit..

the spects are-

First International (FIC)
MP Support: 1 CPU(s)
MPS Version: 1.40
Model: KM266-8233
Serial Number: K01241141321
System BIOS: 10/07/2002-KM266-8233-6A6LVF0BC-00
Chipset: VIA KT266/A, KT333/A

what i want to do is upgrade my pc in pieces starting with the HD the one i had in mind is http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=22-144-358&depa=1 now i dont actually need that size but was thinking the 16mb cache was nice.. will this sata hd work with my mobo and will my mobo allow me to install 2?. what i want to do is get the 2 in then transfer the info from my 100 gb to the 250gb

second upgrade is going to be the mobo this is the one i had in mind
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-131-510&depa=1 i heard these mobo's are nice. now i know i probablly am not going to be able to use my processor with this mobo which is

Model: AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2400+
Speed: 2.00GHz
Model Number: 2400 (estimated)
Performance Rating: PR2897 (estimated)
Type: Standard
Package: Socket A PGA
Multiplier: 15/1x
Generation: G7
so i was thinking of going with this bad boy http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=19-103-463&depa=1 and just keeping everything else the way it is for now..
am i going in the right direction? is there anything im missing.. i am always willing to learn if someone is willing to teach.. sorry for such a long post.

well your new motherboard will support Sata so if u wanted you could wait for that, and what kind of ram do u currently have in the pavilon?

that sure is a nice piece of work there, that processor. i think you're on the right track there. just make sure that you have the right compatability and such for the memory you want to get and hard drive and such. i would hate it for you to get something and have it not work with your processor/ motherboard.

the two sticks of memory i have are the stock 256mb 2100 DDR and a centon 512MB PC2700 184pin DDR DIMM Memory. how do i know if these will fit into the motherboard i want?

Yea i think they both will work the only one i aint certain on is the 2100 but i think its mhz rating is 266?, so it should be fine.

EYE, that be a good PC, But what be your Graphics card matie. Its a nce MObo but mine is better faster and cheaper, so get it instead

my card is a geforce 4 mx 420 that a buddy gave to me i plan on upgrading it though but i dont do any gaming really. what mobo do you use?
