I am setting up a web server and am not sure which one would be the best so your thoughts and experiences would be greatly appreciated.
Server 1 Core 2 Quad Q6600 - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 - Supermicro X7SBE - 4 GB - 250 GB SATA II Server 2 Dual Xeon Professional - Intel Xeon 3.0 GHz (w/HTT) - Intel Xeon 3.0 GHz (w/HTT) - Supermicro X6DVL-EG2 - 4 GB - 250 GB SATA II Both servers after my coupon will cost just about the same with only a few dollars difference. For a web hosting environment which server would you choose? This question is based on performance would one be better than the other? Thanks. |

Thanks for the fast reply I am sorry I left somethings out on server 2 the details are below.

Server 2 is the best...how much did you figure that would cost to build?

Server 1. With a quad-core you can create virtual servers/clusters to improve efficiency.

I think we need to know what kind of Xeons these are before we make a decision.
