Default I know nothing about AMD cpus...

but is this a good deal...? if it is I might want to build a system or two around this, are there any good (and cheap) motherboards to pair with it...?

AMD Athlon X2 BE-2300 Brisbane 1.9GHz - $29.99 shipped (OEM)

the 2350 is just $8 more...

Overclocked, it's going to be awesome for $30, and it's a lower power model too, so it'll probably overclock like crazy.

Go with a 780G for the mobo, but it's double the price of the CPU lol.

not really, its an earlier version of one of the first dual cores amd made.

I don't think its any slower than a p4 but its still doesnt touch the cd or pentium duals.

-sorry, thought it was athlon 64, got my facts wrong. It is not one of the earlier models. It was released like 1 and half year ago.

If I'm not mistaken that thing is capable of an OC of 3.0GHz.

Aye, that and over.

Pentium duals are horrible in performance! This is a very good CPU that probably does beat a Pentium Dual. Just what I think.

May be so, but if you OC both then the AMD will win. Its OC is more than 50%.
