That's the only way. Unless you CTRL + or CTRL - (which will zoom in or out) that's the best you'll get.

Well F11 on Firefox and IE makes them go Full Screen, which gets rid of the bars for you, and the start menu, but leaves the address bar.
If you wanted to get rid of that, simply right click, and untick Navigation bar

Kage, I believe he had his screen maximized already. He wanted to make actual websites appear bigger on the screen. If you've got a 22 or 24" monitor, you'll definitely know what I mean.
