I can't view my saved pictures!

When I try to look at the pictures that I've saved from on the internet,in the windows picture and fax viewer, I get a message telling me that there is no preview available?- So I can't see my picture!...This never use to happen.I think I have moved the settings some how without knowing.

Anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it? - I'm using windows XP by the way.

Can you double click on it and open it up?

The one's which I saved before this problem started (yes) but the one's I've saved since,no.

Also,when I double click on any of my pictures I get taken to paint?
