Default I can not hear any sound on any of my browsers

I use firefox, internet explorer and yahoo. But when i try to listen to music/ videos on any of them i dont hear anything. I can hear sound on my computer for example windows media player, but not online. Another problem that i am encountering is that i have lost the volume control from the taskbar. If you could help with either problem that would be great.

I would suggest reinstalling your sound driver, losing the vol. controls via taskbar. Download the driver from your computer manufacturers website. hp.com dell.com ect...

As f0x said reinstall your drivers, if that fails then try updating your flash player:

Did you turn down/mute the browsers in the Volume Mixer? Could be the problem.

Should be somewhere in the Volume Control options, there are seperate mutes/volume sliders for every program that is currently open.

Right click on the volume icon in your system tray if its there. Than click Open volume mixer.

Already addressed in his other thread, he is using Windows XP, so couldn't have been a volume mixer issue.
