I am having problems with my Microphone Jack

I am having problems with my Microphone Jack when you plug in the Microphone it does not work sound acturly comes ou of the Microphone and when you go on to sound recorder i tryed to record my self but it did not work i have tryed to reinstall the sound driver but that did not work what could i do?

it may be wired to the motherboard wrong.
did you buy the p.c new, or build it yourself?
is the problem something that has just started?
need more info realy.

i got the computer new it did work for a bit but a few weeks after i got it i just broke.

Try reinstalling the sound card drivers or, if it's integrated sound, the motherboard drivers. Also try using another mic to test, if you can.
