Huge computer problem, cant even start at all

Basically it goes to the Windows loading screen, loads, then restarts. I can't get into safe mode / anything.

I tried to boot from the Windows CD and I get the bluescreen with an error STOP : 0x0000007 or something along those lines. My goal being to reformat.
Stop: 0x0000007b (0xF7c7a524, 0xc0000034, 0x00000000, 0x0000000)

is the exact error at the BSOD. So it seems I have two problems?


I also tested the RAM, it's good.
The power supply is also good.

intel pentium 4 processor
gforce 6200 pci-e
1024 ddr2 ram

try a gParted live CD to reformat

Also try getting a live disk of Ubuntu, that you can boot off, then reformat your disk through the installer.

It may be a:

• Bad drive
• bad cable
• boot sector virus (not so common these days but still around)

Can you try another drive and cable? Did you have a virus? and it is the reason for formatting?

Thanks for the help so far, I tried out a few other things yesterday:

I tried a old HD in the computer and it booted up fine, so I guess HD is my main problem. But when I tried to boot off of Windows CD so I could install on the old HD, I still got the error. I'm pretty sure my cables are good and it's a stable drive.

I would suspect you'll find the problem there. How do you have the drives set up, as in which drive is on which ide cable.

Make sure that the jumpers are set correctly, and if possible, put the hard drive on its own IDE cable.

Looks like your HDD is dying. Run The diagnostics if you can.

So far the HDD/RAM/POWER SUPPLY are all confirmed to be good. The new HDD that is, the old one is 100% dead.
