HP tape machines & Retrieving Data??

Subject: HP tape machines & Retrieving Data??
I archived some data on tape using HP tape machines T1000 external, 250mb
external & 5gb HP external tape machine years ago. Now I want to retrive that data and I am having problems making my computers (yes more than one) see the external tape machines. I have used HP downloads and I am using Win 95 & Win 98. Nothing seems to work. The operating system will not reconize the device with a "No device" message in the hp software. I have tryed several old yard sale machines and I don't have any luck. Have tryed a 5gb HP external drive, a older t1000 external, 250mb external. I have also tryed 250mb internal machine on an older computer. The older yard sale machines are about 200meg hertz or better. Maybe I need to buy an older gateway p-5-166 machine to get things working.
I did get my t1000 working on a yardsale 400meghertz celron computer
but that only occured once. I don't know why it stopped working.
Any suggestions on this issue???

First of all, dont buy that gateway your on about. Second of all why not update to XP or something more recent that should have more drivers and updates available so it could possibly detect your drives more easily.
