Nope, haven't been messing with the cables at all. When the pc does start up normally, everything works just fine.

I've got a new psu on the way, I'll let you know how that goes.

No probs, ya could always try another cable on the drive to see if that corrects it.

Well I recieved the new power supply yesterday after the delivery being rescheduled twice.

I've gotten it installed and it seems to be alright. I mean it's only been a day, but everything is running normally now. I'm not going to jump to conclusions just yet, but it seems like that did the trick. Now only time will tell if it's been fixed.
