not a lot unless you can buy a cheap pci vga Graphics card to test with.
is the motherboard still under warranty?

HP has Normally got a self diagnostics test to check the video, ram, hard disk, processor, motherboard you can usually access this either in F8 menu or hitting F9, F10 depending on your setup and hit diagnostics and it will run its own tests and tell you what part is the problem.

you can also find this by pressing pause break at the start point of when you turn on the pc have you checked the bios to make sure all devices are being seen and have you done a bios update if the machine is not that old.

What BIOS does the machine have? Award, Phoenix, etc? Those beeps mean something and you could look up the beep code and that should give you a better jumping off point.

Most likely bad ram. Since the internal vga shares ram with the rest of the system, would be a good indicator of ram issues.
