HP Mini Hard Drive Problems

Hey,

I have an HP Mini with a 160GB HDD, 1.6 GHZ VIA, and 1GB of RAM. Here's the problem:

It likes to limit its access to the hard drive when it's semi-idle, such that if I'm only listening to music it often stutters/skips because it's not accessing the hard drive constantly. However, ironically, it can play music fine when the computer is actively being used.

It didn't come with any power management software, and I don't see anywhere I can alter the hard drive access/spin. I already turned off the computer's accelerometer that would stop the hard drive if it was bumped around.

Does anyone have any idea how I can make it such that it access the hard drive constantly?

Thanks.

No one has any idea?
