Hp Laptop- White Screen with Diagonal Lines

My aunt was using her new HP laptop today and the screen suddenly went white with squiggly lines going diagonally across it. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

It's a faulty LCD. Return it for a new one.

Well it's not brand new. It's like 6 months old, so I don't think it can be returned. Are you sure it's a faulty lcd? She's had it for all this time and this is the first time it's every done this. Could it be a video card driver problem?

Doubt it, probaly bad lcd or maybe ribbon cable. If you feel like it buy parts on ebay and fix it, sounds like a fun project actually.
