HP 713a 'Unupgradeable'?????

Is it true that HP have made it more difficult to upgrade this computer?
Are there any countermeasures to prevent a new HDD or any other components from being added/removed?
My friend has had reports of this behaviour from HP. I just want to confirm this with others. Please note this computer has been bought in Australia.

Upgrading a HDD is as easy as sliding it in. screwing it down(tape works too. Not duct tape. 3M tape). Hooking it up. and installing the OS. Nothing should prevent the OS from being installed on it. And if you dont want the OS on it. Install it as the slave. Make sure the jumper is set to slave. Does this help? If we were talking like a ATI 9800pro GFX card that would be different seeing how the comp has to run AGP 8x.

Im guessing that you bought a new HDD and it didnt show up on the list of drive right?

Cause the only thing with installing a new HDD is. Making sure your PSU can handle. Makeing sure that your IDE has a master and slave connecter.

So do you have the HDD right now?
