Default How's this Look?

I'm new to the forums..so I'll 'break the ice' with this post.

I am currently looking to purchase a new PC from a site like ibuypower.com, or cyberpowerPC. I was originally looking at buyXG.com, but have read bad reviews.

I am planning on running games such as World of Warcraft, Everquest II, Counter-Strike: Source, 1.6. Maybe HL2.

Specs I am looking at:
- Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition w/ Service Pack 2
- (Sckt939)EVGA nForce4 SLI Chipset SATA RAID Dual PCI-E Mainboard w/GbLAN,USB2.0,&7.1Audio
- (939-pin) AMD ATHLON™64 3500+ CPU w/ HyperTransport Technology (Not sure on OverClocking and such, I'm still new to most of this)
- 1024 MB (512MBx2) PC3200 400MHz Dual Channel DDR MEMORY
- NVIDIA Geforce 6600 256MB 16X PCI EXPRESS VIDEO CARD
- ESS 3D WAVETABLE SOUND PCI
- 160GB SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 8M Cache 7200RPM Hard Drive.
- NZXT PF-500 500Watt Power Supply

This setup is from CyberpowerPC.com, I need to configure a PC from a site like this since I am not ready to assemble my own. This setup is around $739 with the free shipping deal.

All comments/critcism is appreciated!

Everything looks good except the video card.

Maybe get a 7600GT. They're pretty cheap now and won't have a problem running those games.

How about a 7300GT? The price for 7600GT puts me over my price range im going for. Just wondering how much better the 7300GT would be than the 6600 regular, and how much the 7600GT is better than the 7300GT

Yeah, 7300GT is definitely better than that 6600.

You know what, probably a 6600GT should run those games no problem.

...the 7300GT...yeah.. i'm pretty certain you mean the 7300GS...and... the 7300gs is most definitely NOT better than the 6600. the 6600 beats it in almost all aspects except for MAYBE like.. memory interface if you get the 128mb version... get the 6600gt if you're really that tight on money, otherwise get the 7600gt.

the 7600gt > 7300gs x 1,000,000

oh and your other parts look fine btw.

Am2. 939 is now outdated. I mean, it is still kept up, but Am2 skt is the newest and greatest from Amd. That and the 7600GT then your good to go.

well.. i dunno he's on budget, and AM2 really adds quite a bit..if not for the motherboard, DDR2 ram with some decent timings is $$$

Was thinking of going down to the 420W PSU that comes w/ the Case, would this be significantly different from the 500W, and will it run the other specs I have chosen?

Looking good - stick with Socket 939 to save money. The 420W will run all that.

And get a 6600GT. I upgraded from a 6600 to a 6600GT and you really notice the difference, even if its just $20 or so.

It's a much better card
