How would my PC do with vista?

I probably won't need my XP key anyways, I've got a couple other copies of XP I can use if I need them.

If I ever need to format the hard drive does that mean I can't install vista again by installing XP and then putting vista over it? by that I mean this:
*reformatting the drive
*intall XP without activating
*install vista over the XP and activate the vista copy

i have a very similar computer to yours. pentium 4 630 runs vista perfectly. i have 1gb of ram and its fine. radeon 9250 (which is way worse than yours) runs games fine in vista.
