How reliable are Acer laptops?

I recently got given an Acer laptop as a grad gift. It is worth about $700. How reliable are Acers Laptops?

It varies a helluva lot with Acer, over the years. I know, some of them are as reliable as the weather forecast, and some of them will trundle along quite happily for 5+ years.

my dad and gf have Acer. no problems thus far.

Some lines are build like brick $h!t houses, and some are as flimsy and delicate as a newborn.

If you happen to get one of their "crap" line laptops, they have great customer service overall. And generally have some of the best build quality over a lot of the competitors.

Which computer you looking at by them, maybe we can give some input on it?

i got the acer aspire 5742g laptop with an intel core i3, 4gb ram, ati mobility radeon hd 5470, and a 640gb hard drive.

I hated my Acer laptop. I returned it immediately after it arrived. Felt flimsy and was slow right out of the box. I personally avoid Acer like the plague.

We use Acer here at work, and I own one of their Aspire One netbooks now. I love that thing.

No issues with the systems at work either.

I use Acer monitors at home.
