More than 100 MB per second? So if I was downloading say a 70MB CD it would download in under a second? How much do you have to pay for a connection like that, your soul?

I read about ISDN over fiber optics once, with many channels and what-not, and its supposed to be over 600mbs a second.
But to answer your question about downloading an entire 70mb cd in a second, the answer is no. At the school my mother works at they have a 10mb connection, and when I download I get about 190kbs. So if you can calculate from there. Although you do have to take into account the fact that at the school there are many, many computers running.

no it wouldnt take less than a second because it also depends on the internet connection the server is working on.

Your download speed depends opon a few things.

you ISP allowable bandwith, your own allowable bandwith, and the server your connecting to bandwith.

say you have 1000MBPS NIC, your service is 10MBPS and the server will only give you 0.5MBps

Bam. you get 500Kps.

and many servers do this because they cant handle people coming in with 10MBPS connections and maxing out their servers.

so why dont these people get more bandwith? its simple, its just not cost effective $$$, For most cases.

ok anyway back on topic.
HD space is cheap right now, and if i were you i would get a Huge HD
Personally i reccomend any of these.

i am running 2 of the 250Gigs and i love em.

good luck

Even if you are on a 10meg conncetion you won't download at 10megs like said before the server limits downloads. If you want a fast connection from what I hear comcast is good. I herd they offer services above the 6.0mps which seem prety reliable. T1 isnt even that fast, its very reliable (99.9% uptime) and has 1.5megs up and 1.5 down but thats it. I recommend that if you want a fast connection check if you can get a 6.0meg line from comcast. That should be good for downloading Movies. For a hardrive if I were you I would at least get a 300 gig they are like only $79 on newegg.
