Default How High Is Too High?..

If I was to run my 19" Crt monitor at 1600x1200 a lot.. would that affect the overall lifespan of the monitor?

Don't think so, might affect the overall lifespan of you though. I remember when I use to set my 16.1" viewable 17" CRT at 1280x1024, I was wondering why I had constant headaches a week later..

Edit: The title is a little bit misleading, ha..

Hahaha, you're right MarxSoccer... It is a bit misleading...

But seriously, on a 19" monitor I think the best resolution would be 1280 x 1024. I only have a 17", but I've used a 19" at 1280 x 1024 and it was really quite nice. However, just depending on what feels best to you should be the determining factor. Since it is a CRT, I don't think it matters which resolution you use.

Well, marx, odds are, that 17"crt was only pulling off 60Hz at 1280x1024 (most are like that), and well, 60Hz is really hard on the eyes. Lots of eye strain, leading to headaches. I can run this thing at 1600x1200 with 75Hz, no eye strain at all...

I'd keep to 1280x1024. It fairly alright on a 19inch. 1600x1200 sounds a tad bit too big. 1280x1024 should be fine, I highly doubt it'll lower the lifespan.

Seems fine to me. Hmm.. I can run 85hz if I lower the res to 1600x1024..

I've tried switching to a higher hertz, but my monitor doesn't like it! It always vibrates back and forth with anything other than 60Hz, but it sure doesn't hurt your eyes as much. Does anyone know what could be causing this? It is an old Dell CRT monitor, probably about 15-17 inches viewing area. That is, the actual diagonal measurement of the actual screen. It isn't flatscreen, either.

I've noticed that curved monitors look really weird at refresh rates higher than 60.. Mine is a flatscreen..
