If you have an external sound card and want to update the sound:

Right click my computer>Manage>Device Manager>Sound Video and game controllers and see if it's listed in there. If it's not listed you will have to disconnect your sound card and there should be a model number on it somewhere. Google the drivers for it.

If you have onboard sound just look up the drivers on your motherboards manufacturers website.

Is your sound choppy with everything or just itunes? Try to play a song in windows media player and see if you get the same choppy effect. You havent messed with codecs on your laptop have you?

Go to control panel menu, then select system settings. Another way is right click at my computer icon, select properties, then click hardware, then the device manager.
