Default How does everyone secure their computer...

This has probably been asked numerous times, but an update never hurt. This is what I'm currently using, any suggestions to how I could further secure my pc would be really appreciated...

Belkin Router firewall enabled
Vista Security Center
Zone Alarm
AVG Free
Spybot, with tea timer etc
Ad-aware
Firefox, with Noscript, Adblock plus, Cookie Safe
Keyscrambler.

What else do I need?

Also, any body use any proxy servers? (I'm not to sure how they work or what the advantage is...)
Or any IP hiding, footstep removing programs etc?

Cheers!

Oh, and when it comes to downloading, any views on Peerguardian etc?

Doesn't really get much better than that. That might even be excessive.

One thing - with a hardware router, you don't really need a dedicated firewall. The one in Windows plus a router is just fine.

Personally, I have NOD32, Ad-Aware, and a router.

My first defense is myself, I know what to do and what to not do. Porning is done in Virtual PC as well

Second defense is a Smoothwall 3 firewall with Snort IDS in combination with a reactive firewall plugin.

Third defense is NOD32 V3.0

I use Peer Guardian and Zonealarm. In Firefox, I then have Noscript, and a pop up blocker.
I don't believe my router supports hardware firewalls..

Whats keyscrambler? Does it encrypt what you type across the network?

Ah ha, I've installed that. Seems very useful

Pretty much every router has the effect of a hardware firewall...

All NAT routers (which is what you get at future shop, best buy, etc) are also a basic firewall.

Yeah, I found the IP and checked the settings out just now. It doesn't have anywhere settings for a hardware firewall, but I'm guessing if it does have one, its simply a fixed built in setting you can't change.
I did find some really strange settings though, like RIP, and a way to change the IP away from a static address... hmm
