heres what u do...
depends on ur video card...btw...
but...you just take the monitor cable from your computer tower, then hook it to the tv to the vga port, as long as u have a vga cable
then switch the tv to the input an there ya go.

Does your TV have an HDMI port? VGA is going to look like crap. DVI/HDMI is where the good stuff's at

No, those are components.

No. HDMI is a port that looks like this and uses this special cable.

Red/White(audio)/Yellow(video) jacks are RCA jacks.
Blue/Green/Red are component video jacks.

IIRC, component video is the only thing other than HDMI that will carry a high quality signal. If your TV has component inputs (which is should at least, since you say it's an HDTV), then you can get a converter for your GPU that looks like this. But I couldn't find any on NewEgg.

Here's a few:

That's completely subjective. All three formats are capable of carrying high definition signals. Depending on the situation, all three have certain advantages and disadvantages.

I'm speaking from my own experience. I've tried both VGA and DVI to my Plasma and I can tell you hands down the DVI smokes VGA. IIRC correctly, this is because VGA has to be processed/converted into an analog signal and then back again when it reaches its destination; resulting in some loss of quality. Whereas, DVI/HDMI stays digital all the way.

I've also tried both with a few different LCD monitors that support both...just switching back and forth with both. I can see a noticeable difference in clarity and crispness.
