how to delete history

I am running vista and I am trying to delete my history.This is what I did. But The history is still there. Click the General tab, and then, under Browsing history, click Delete.

Under History, click Delete history, and then click Yes to confirm that you want to delete the history.

Click Close, and then click OK.

have you tried deleting your history by clicking on the star then history and right click -> Delete

and if your a technical user this is an option for deleting typed urls
start -> Run type regedit

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs

You should be able to (if you're using IE7) to go to Tools>Delete Browsing History>Delete All>Check the Also delete...box>Yes.

Firefox: Tools>Clear Private Data

It's also good to use a program like nCleaner to erase all your private tracks.
