Default how can i tell what kind of laptop HDD i have

how can i tell what style of HDD it is..eg-ATA, SATA

thats what most hdd:s connect by its not ata or sata like in computers (desktops) man.

That's just a list of IDE drives..

What year was the laptop built and by what manufacturer? If you have the drive out, its very easy. IDE has tons of pins, and sata has connectors that are "L" shaped one is longer than the other.

my bad thats the only one i have ever seen i assumed it was a universal HDD slot.
