how can I stop windows from lowering my mic volume?

what can I do to prevent windows from lowering the volume of my mic, and to make sure that it will always use the mic I have selected? becuase when I video chat on aim, it will never transmit my audio right.

this happened to me, what i did to fix it was go to device manager uninstall my sound card then reboot, let windows install it and then it worked fine
