Wow. Now I feel stupid.
I have always taken the long way and used the windows atart up disk/then used the commands. Wow.

Yeah. I always had to format when there were faulty installs of Windows, I never had it installed and had to format.

Um...don't you HAVE to do it though command unless you're doing another harddrive? Windows protecting you from formatting the boot drive and all...

yha you can't do it to the harddrive you are running, you have to do it the hard way. you don't need boot disks unless you are using something previous then xp because the windows disk is already equipped with that. I think it should work that way if you are formatting a secondary harddrive although I have had problems with that also.

If you're on Windows XP, make sure your bios is set to boot from a CD. Put your XP Disk in, and restart your computer.
