I've always had bad performace out of some drives I have in my video comp, but things are really standing out now... I have a burner out of an older sony viao(24x12x32, or something like that...) When I try to burn, it's like the computer locks up every couple seconds from working too hard. I have my DVD burner in there untill I get the case, and it's not any better. Nero speed check actually said the processor usage was at 100% for 8x! This was simply reading a disk... My main system got like 2%!
Are there some drivers I'm missing or something? The machine is an Abit BE6-II with Raid(that is just disabled) The computer isn't that powerful, only 733MHz, but it should do better than this! I'm considering trying to use the RAID controller sometime and see if having each drive on it's own channel would help *shrugs* Not that big of a deal, but I like my comps to work at their full potenital.
Oh, and I SHOULD get my enclosure tommarow. We'll see if it does any better with a firewire drive!
