Lightbulb HL2 re-install

I love me some HL2, but i couldn't finish the game because my computer died. Because of valve and steam, i know some people have serious problems re-installing it. Can I put the same copy on the computer I am currently building? Can't I just use the same account?

When you log into you acount and click on HL2 it will download everything you need to play it. you can't register the game to a new acount.

No, you're fine. Just right click the game and select "delete local game content." Then when you try to run the game it will install everything you need. The games you purchased are tied to your account. Not your computer. So if you log off of Steam at your house, you can log into it at a friends house and still be able to play the games that you purchased.
