When you click on the view problem details what does it say? That is the most important part of that message. Find out what it says and then post it up here, without paraphrasing it.

Can I ask... is your HL2 genuine? If it is, delete all local files for it in Steam and reinstall from the CD if you have it, else download it again through Steam if you bought it digitally instead of the actual CD.

If not then I can't really help you.
