Ok I need to download stuff and need to know the name of a good IP scrambler that can block my IP from the internet and when I download off of Utorrent. So that my ISP cannot see what I am doing. Please help me.
Thanks

Sorry to say, but this is not necessarily illegal. In fact if anything, the ISP is the person doing the illegal stuff here by monitoring traffic. Their's nothing illegal about encrypting your traffic or disguising it from your ISP.

With the packet shaping employed by many ISP's today, disguising torrent traffic is a MUST. They can outright block P2P traffic, or force it down to terrible speeds.

I use imageshack's torrent service to bypass my ISP throttling. http://tor.imageshack.us/

I agree with DJ-Chris in the fact that this isn't illegal. That being said most ISP's aren't doing anything illegal by monitoring traffic because they put it into their contract (thus you're allowing them to do it).

That being said its extremely annoying that most ISPs throttle the speed when you're dl'ing torrents.

Also, the link given above doesn't seem to work.

What alot of ISP's are doing is clearcut illegal, but due to their power it's been allowed to go on. Also note that alot of ISP's sell your internet usage patterns to advertising companys.

Looking at the OP's ISP, your screwed. Using another server to download your files is about the only way to get around traffic shaping where you are. Just don't switch to sympatico as their far far worse than your ISP.

I guess what some people are trying to make the point to make, is that what you are obviously trying to download from a p2p network, an illegal file in the first place?

the point id like to make is this you don't need to download stuff you would like to download stuff and as your already downloading this stuff without trying to hide your ip address why bother trying to hide it now surely you should have tried to hide it before you even started to download stuff.

If what you're downloading is illegal (movies, music, etc..) then we can't help you. If your wanting to use p2p to download a free linux distribution or something thats allowed than we can help.

He just said he is trying to download something using torrents, which by itself is extremely LEGAL, not illegal. It is not our place to try to determine what he is trying to download. You can do alot of illegal things through legal means.

He may have not said what he wants to download because
a. It is an illegal file, and wanted to get help downloading it
b. Might be a completely legal file, but didnt want to let everyone know he was downloading it (porn for example)
c. He knows his rights and was just using them the way that the constitution wants us to.

And to be more specific, I believe that ISPs are doing, is not monitoring the actual traffic, they are simply looking for protocols and ports that are commonly used to download torrents. For example, it is illegal for the FBI to eavesdrop on a telephone call without a warrant, but not to stake-out your house and look into a window to see that you are using the telephone. All the ISP is doing is finding that you are using torrents, not exactly what it is that you are downloading. They then throttle this connection to lower its speeds.

This is not to say that they do not look at your traffic and report back what you are downloading to the RIAA and other similar organizations, but that is a different issue all together. They do not need to do anything illegal in the process of throttling torrent downloads. If they are looking at your traffic, specifically what you are downloading, and not just how you are downloading it then this would be illegal without consent/warrant (unless they are protected under some bill that I am not aware of, similar to the way that businesses monitor traffic on their networks).

This post isn't made of facts, more of what I BELIEVE is occuring. If the details are infact different, please let me know.

To be that bothered about hiding the IP from the ISP though, he must be wanting to download more than just a legal file. Even porns legal (well, most of it), and the ISP probably wouldn't bat an eyelid with it.

that was my thoughts, limewire has run rampant for along time, so ISP have seen this and take it with a little care.
