Default Helping me build a computer?

Hello everyone, I was wondering if you guys could give me a hand picking the parts for my computer, I need something cheap, something I can make for under $600 (because I can buy a new computer for that much) doesn't have to be great, just has to beat this:

Processor: AMD Turion Dual-Core RM-75 2.20 GHz

Installed Memory(RAM): 3.00 GB (2.75 GB usable)

System Type: 32-bit Operating System

because that is the one I have now.

Any ideas?

Perhaps you'd be best off with a kit. All the parts are guaranteed compatible, they're reasonably priced, just open the box, and build it!

But the final price of that is nearly as much as a new computer.

I don't understand?????

In your OP, you said you wanted to build something for under $600.00,... that is under $600.00. There are also kits that cost even less.

Not really, can be a lot cheaper since you retain existing parts such as PSU, case, monitor, Hard drives, DVD drives keyboard & etc etc.

A kit is mainly CPU, Motherboard, Ram & possibly a new video card.

It looks like OP is using a laptop so that wouldn't be an option.

Any of these will be a considerable upgrade over what you have. I know you said it doesn't have to be great. What are you looking to do on the computer?

You'll want something decently powerful so it doesn't spend all day compiling.

Any of those AMD based kits should serve you well.
