Help w/ Notebook

I recently bought a Gateway Solo laptop, preloaded with Windows 98. It did not come w/ any documentation (i.e. key code for Windows). I can only go to the screen that the Windows key code is entered. I bought a new license of Windows 98 to install. When I place the disk into the CDROM, I cannot access the drive to setup Windows.

Can anyone help me install this new license over the preloaded one.

I would call windows. but, besides that, I know there is a way to overide that first sign-in screen. I dont know off hand. Why did you get Windows 98 anyway?

I bought the laptop from a friend who upgraded to a new one. It is a older Gateway Solo notebook, and I did some research that showed that anything over Windows 98 isn't handled by the laptop.
