help quick please

just installed a second IDE hdd on a dell
and now xp won't load all the way
it gets stuck on agp440.Sys when I boot safe mode help

Make sure to set the jumpers on the drive to Slave.

I don't have the jumpers right how do I have them for slave and master?

What brand HDD is it? It should show on the label of the drive the correct positions for the jumpers. If not, you can look the drive up on the manufacturer's site for the jumper positions. If it's on it's own cable, or on the end of the IDE cable, it should be set as master. If it's attached to the secondary connector on the cable, it would be slave.

I got it to work
but in windows the second hard drive isn't recoginzed but the bios is

If it's brand spakin new, it won't be until it's initialized and formatted.

run diskmgmt.msc to initialize and format the disk.
