nope. Tried putting it into my friends laptop too. asks me to format in his too although recognises it. its saying in disk management that this drive is 100% free. Am i screwed?

could it be to do with slave and master settings? New hard drive is a 7200.10 200gb.

Well whats your jumper on on the internal drive? And is it using the very far out IDE Connection that says master on it?

it says the removable drive is a partition in my disk management. What are the next steps to getting the files back or deleting the partition without having to format?
