QFT, details details, we don't have crystal balls you know ;) :D

Also what do you do in the terms of system maintenance, what programmes do you run as default, are all your system drivers up to date etc etc

Okay, need to know a few things.

System spec? Internet speed? What games are you playing?

Note that if you read the box on any games, 'minimum' spec is often just to run th game, not to run it fast if you know what I mean. 'Recommended' spec will be alot different in most cases.

But yeah, we need some info on your system first.

Ok nice of you all to reply i shall tell you my spec etc as far as i know it(unfortanatly im not great with computers 8( )

Spec:

Intel pentium 3.4ht
2gb RAM(DDR2) 600mhz i believe
250gb HDD(7200rpm)
nvidia 6600 GT
Windows XP

So thats all i know off top of my head

Basically the games i *try to play* are :

Counter strike source(this lagged to i tried ;
Counter Strike coundition zero(the really bad graphic one and this lagged so i tried;
Halo combat evolved and this lagged all of these lagged online and offline.I even tried to fiddle with the ingame settings iwth no luck.

Also day to day things on the computers is really laggy too like ; opening a file or the net and the restart and turn on of the computer.

I have Norton Antivirus ans spy sweeper(ive checked with many programs no viruses or adware etc)ive even tried without these programs running with no luck.Ive even tried rivia tuner again with no luck ;p

I really hope someone can help cause im VERY depressed this has happened since day one of the computer purchase.I taken the computer to specialists and they say to me ; "theres a problem but we dont know what it is" :s

Oh and im on a 5meg line

Thanks

/Dan

First off, how reliable is that 5meg line? Are you sure you're getting the right speeds? You might want to run a bandwidth test. But it sounds like that's not really the problem right now. Though some people will probably say your computer isn't amazing, it's definitely alright to play the games mentioned; CSS should run near maxed nicely, as it's not very CPU intensive nor is it extremely graphics intensive, especially without HDR, AA, AF, etc. That's the only one I can relate to, as it's the only game I have. Where'd you get this computer, or did you build it yourself? I've heard of occasions where a company will downclock the settings on the processor and stuff for increased lifespan and stability, but it's usually not by too much. I'd suggest re-installing Windows if possible, but you'll probably need to update all of your drivers again. That's a weird problem...

I gotta go soon, and I'll be back sometime around 9 Central. Maybe I can figure it out...but that sure is strange. Good luck to you in fixing it.

What m/board? Have you updated the chipset drivers, when did you last defrag, what drivers are you running for the 6600GT?

more info required please.

Try closing down norton and see what happens, that program is the biggest memory hog in existence.
