i have got this mobo :

http://www.giga-byte.com/MotherBoard...A-8S648-L.htm#

I am going to remove my non-ecc RAM and buy some more RAM which is ECC. Would i be able to do this? or can my mothereboard only take non-ecc.

I'm honesty not sure about this at all, but I don't think there is a difference. I remember reading a thread about this, and I believe that I read that someone had non-ECC, then he replaced that with ECC, and didn't notice a difference. I could very easily be wrong though... That's what I remember. Someone else around here will know the answer (without a doubt) for sure.

Why do you need ECC? It is slower then non-ECC. The only people that need it is the people that cant afford to make a mistake whih still is like 1 in a million. Im just tryinjg to save you the money.....

Default ECC ram

ECC is for buisneses with valuable data that cant afford to lose anything, I dont even Know if that Mobo can take ECC, but its your money, I would just assume buy more Non-ECC its faster anyway..

Exactly what i said..... See, listen too us. RAM almost never hiccups so it almost isn't nessary for big places but for you you definently don't need it. It is slower since it has to check everytime.
