Default help a newbie with a build, be nice to the NOOB

Old gaming rig died last year, found out it was the ram. Updated the ram. Now computer DIED again. Think it is the MB. About 14 months ago I added a new Video Card to nurse the old girl along.

The rig is now 3 years old. I am a newbie and have not kept up with all the advance in chips, GPUs, ram...etc

The only thing I am set on is case and CPU cooler:

Corsair Obsidian Series 800D CC800DW Black Aluminum / Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Newegg.com - Corsair Obsidian Series 800D CC800DW Black Aluminum / Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case

And Noctua NH-D14 120mm & 140mm SSO CPU Cooler

Newegg.com - Noctua NH-D14 120mm & 140mm SSO CPU Cooler

I've never done any Raid on my harddrives. In the past I have just has two single HD. I want 1TB on main HD and 1TB on my back up bulk storage HD. Is doing RAID stuff hard? I have two external HD that I back up pictues and MP3. Plus, I do MOZY back up.

So I need a lot of help. Is sata III main stream now? USB 3.0??

And I would like all my stuff from NewEgg.

Price 2000 to 2500

Need powersuply, hard drives, ram, two optical drives (one DVD writer, one BlueRay burner), Win 64 bit, processor (are there any programs or tasks that acutally utilize 6 cores?), sound card, Mouther Board

Thanks,

Myosin
