I have two pc's i want to share files with.

PC1 has USB & Ethernet connections
PC2 only has USB

Both run Windows XP. I have an ethernet CAT5 cable and a USB 10/100 network adaptor to convert the ethernet to USB, however, both computers say "a network cable is unplugged". Additionally when the device is in auto mode neither will light up, but when on FULL 100 mode the orange ethernet light on PC1 is on and the green light that usually blinks is off.

Need help urgently so i can transfer alot of documents to new PC.

Cheers

u need a cross over cable or a switch
Going from what he says in his post, that wont be any use as only one pc has ethernet.:)

How much info do you need to transfer? Can you not just copy it to CD, pen drive etc?

yeah i did read that but when he said 'I have an ethernet CAT5 cable ' i figured why is he telling us he got that ??

as it would be extremely pointless so i figured he ment he got a USB to ethernet adaptor instead of a ethernet to USB adaptor.

so the pc witout ethenet port has the usb adaptor on it giving it a ethenet port ?
