Default Help me build/upgrade my PC

Right, Ive never done this before (only ever added memory), I have always bought PC's straight from a store, however I havent really got the money to buy a brand new PC so Im hoping to keep hold of some components and adding better ones to create a better PC.

Here is the computer Ive got at the moment:

Advent T9208

COMPONENT - DESCRIPTION
CPU - Intel® Pentium® D 945 processor (3.4 GHz)
Motherboard - MS-7187 (Intel® 945G)
Memory - 3GB DDR2 (2 x DDR PC2-5300 & 2 x DDR PC2-5200)
Hard Drive - 250GB SATA hard drive
Hard Drive - 250GB SATA hard drive
CD / DVD Drive - Dual layer DVD±RW
Card Reader - Flash Memory Card Drive (8 in 1)
Video / Graphics Card - GeForce 7300SE PCI-E 64MB (up to 512MB with Turbocache)
TV Card - Creatix 7131E Analogue/Digital TV tuner (CTX953)
Sound Card - C-Media AC'97
Modem - Creatix CTX 609 SoftModem
Network Card - Intel® Pro/100 VE ethernet
Disassembly - Advent T9x08 case information
Keyboard - Advent USB keyboard
Mouse - Advent USB optical mouse

Now the main things I was hoping to replace were the CPU, motherboard, maybe the memory (would like to upgrade to 4gb) and hard drives (maybe replace the two with one hard drive) and the graphics card (Nothing exceptional just a decent one). Hopefully I will still be able to use my existing monitor, cd/dvd drive, card reader etc with the new motherboard? Will I also need a new case? The less I would need to replace the better but if it means a much improved PC then I will be willing to have a look into it.

If someone could advise I would be more than greatful.

Thanks

I was digging through Google to see if your motherboard supported Core 2 Duo and came across your post on AV Forum:

Intel Core 2 Duo E7200
Asus P5K-E Wifi/AP Motherboard - where can I get this for £60?
3GB DDR2 (2 x DDR PC2-5300 & 2 x DDR PC2-5200) (Existing memory)
Corsair PSU (Still unsure what one exactly? Could you recommend one?)
1Tb Samsung SpinPoint hard drive
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro
New case - will any case do?
New graphics card - can you recommend one?

I don't know how much you want to spend, so here are a couple of budget-minded suggestions.

Case-Lian Li PC-7B Plus II. Build quality on Lian-Li cases is very good.

For the video card, the 4850 provides great bang for you buck. It would help to know what resolution your monitor is also.

Corsair PSU's are good, I have one in my dad's rig and it's been running 24/7 just fine for the last several months. This one's modular so cable management will be easier.

Thanks for your reply. From my response from AV Forums, I have basically decided on the following:

Intel Core 2 Duo E7200
Asus P5K-E Wifi/AP Motherboard - where can I get this for £60?
3GB DDR2 (2 x DDR PC2-5300 & 2 x DDR PC2-5200) (Existing memory)
Corsair PSU (Still unsure what one exactly? Could you recommend one?)
1Tb Samsung SpinPoint hard drive
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro
New case - will any case do?
New graphics card - can you recommend one?

Is this everything I will need and how good will this be? I know it wont be the best around but in terms of Vista performance, will I be looking at close to 5.9 for everything?

My monitor resolution is 1280 x 1024 by the way. Also, do newegg post to the UK as thats where I live?
