help making a pc

Oh yeah and the athlon only goes to 2800 on the mp edition. You can use pricewatch to find a board.

so were talking 1,600 for the processor 600 for the board 500 for the vid card 1,500 for the ram and 500 for the hard drives 100 for the case 300 for power supply so total of 6 to 7 k that should be a high end gaming rig right? is there any way i can do dule amd xp 3400?

Jesus!

You really are Crazy lol.

Thats the same price as a car  where did you run into such fortune? If you don't mind me asking.

1. there is no xp 3400
2. it may be possible run some old athlon 64 fx-53 or 51 using the 940 chipset on that board. The opteron uses the same chipset but the FSB on that board is way too small.
4. You can run a dual athlon mp 2800+ board it will save you tons of money.
5. If you are running a server you will want a case better than 100. A case like that is cheap when you are talking all this money. Here is the nicest one.

if i had $250 US laying around I would get that.

were did i come by such a fortune my dad give me money mom gives me money money from xmass last one i got $880 i have $3,000 or so some were money ez but it would take me a year or so. the reason 100 for the case.. im gona build it. 65 for a small a/c unit 15 for ply wood 20 for insulation. and have coustom heat skinks made no fan hollow heat sink to put dry ice in =)
are xeons as powerful as opteron. would 4 mp be the same as 2 opterons and would they be good for high end gaming?

Here is an outdated test of mp vs xeon

Here is one comparing xeon vs opteron. There are faster opterons and xeons with faster fsb though.

Here is one comparing the dual xeon to p4
http://www.tomshardware.com/motherboard/20040514/e7505-chipsatz-11.html#opengl
as you can see xeons arent designed for games and neither is the opteron.

Unless you have some need for dual cpus then I would go with a singel socket 939 athlon fx-53

I agree with Airiox, for gaming I believe a FX-53 would perform better than dual processors. Much simpler aswell :D

ok ill go with a 64 fx53, maby it wont take me a year to build this system....=) i was gona have it dubble as a game serverdo you think a single 64 fx53 can support me playing a 32 player unreal 2004 match wile hosting it too? i got cable so that wont be a problem, im gona check and see if i can find 2 xeon for under 1k.

In my opinion, it would make more sense to build a seperate medium spec. server PC aswell as a high-end gaming PC. These would probably end up being quicker than you running both on one PC.

ok right at this moment 3 of my computer are undergoing a upgrade and parts change i've been playing with overclocking and cooling i got a amd 2500 512 mb of ram and a nvidea fx5700le to run generals c&c at 39fps :), ok but your talking 6 months to get enought money to change my mobord and get a 64fx cpu thats using my old vid card, ram, cd, dvd than ill have to cool it 1 month for the money to do that, still talking a year maby 2 to buld this stuff and it will OLD in 2 years.... maby buy second hand? cheeper?
