Default Help with Compaq Motherboard

I am upgrading to a new setup, and I am wondering if I need to buy a whole new motherboard or not. I have a Compaq Presario 5000, and the motherboard was replaced once by Compaq. I want to get a faster processor, because I am on a 750mhz Duron now.

My question is, how do I find out if my current motherboard will work with a faster processor?

Compaq support would be the place to ask.

Use this program:

http://www.lavalys.com/products/over...?pid=1&lang=en

It'll tell you exactly what motherboard you have. You could then tell us, and we'll go out searching for a compatable processor

Awesome! It will take a few minutes to download, and when I find out I will let you know. I have been surfing Tigerdirect.com, looking for parts. Another question I have, are the compaq boards able to be switched to an aftermarket case?

Ok. I have run the program, and I have the results. Now, what ones are important, and how do I know what they mean?
